2023 National Human Rights Commission Annual Report

Human Rights 75: We Walk Together

In 2023, the fourth year of its existence, the National Human Rights Commission built on past work to continue advancing human rights. On the international front, the Commission was invited for the first time to take part as an observer in the Annual General Meeting and Biennial Conference of the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF). There it exchanged views on related issues with representatives and experts from other national human rights institutions, actively engaging with the international human rights network.

To strengthen its internal organization, the Commission drafted the 2023-2026 Medium-Term Strategic Plan, setting a framework for future work. Additionally, addressing the current human rights situation in the country, the Commission issued multiple human rights investigation reports and offered independent opinions, such as the First Independent Opinions on the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, providing the government with recommendations to improve law and policy.

The Commission also continued its collaboration with universities to further human rights education. It deepened public awareness through initiatives like the Human Rights 75 “Color Our Rights” poster competition. The annual report provides the reader with further insight into these activities promoting human rights.
