“Paint for Human Rights – 2022 Poster Design Competition” Selected Works Released

In order to promote the awareness of human rights education, the National Human Rights Commission of the Control Yuan (Taiwan) has organized the inaugural “Paint for Human Rights – 2022 Poster Design Competition.” Designers and students were encouraged to participate and to illustrate the universal values of human rights, while the theme of the poster design had to incorporate the concept of human rights. We hope that through the design and creation process, competitors have been able to elevate their understanding of the ideas and values of human rights while using their designs and descriptions to give them form. Moreover, the event aims to boost the understanding of human rights throughout Taiwanese society through the viewing of these posters.

The competition received a total of 718 submissions between 22 July and 4 September 2022. These submissions covered diverse topics, including caring for children, defending the right of freedom of expression, the right to life, people with disabilities, and gender equality, as well as the prohibition of sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and forced labor, demonstrating the wide-ranging knowledge and understanding of human rights issues among the competitors.

The final 62 selected works were released on the event’s website here on 1 November 2022, under the “Selected Works” (入選作品) section (http://nhrc-postercompetition.net). We invited everyone to come and enjoy these works. This event hopes to communicate with the public by using visual art techniques and poster design to inspire more people to reflect on human rights issues.
